Lost Angeles. An NAF Western Corridor megacity on the old Los Angeles footprint: six arcology zones by the official description, eight districts by the operator's. The 2041 quake flattened the east; the core was rebuilt from above and the outer districts rebuilt themselves, which is why they never forgave the core for the years it took to notice. The Ring Road circles it at twelve metres, forty-one kilometres, cameras facing inward. What I can confirm: twelve million people, one water allocation network, and a body economy that everyone is standing on. What the record will not tell you is which map is correct. The city asks what you're carrying.

Start with the districts. Notice how the place changes as you move between them, then follow Danka Ivel into the cast of Warranty Void. As Described offers a story set here. The Mission Book offers contracts, beginning with The Wash. You do not have to learn every faction before you enter. Choose a person, a place, or a job, and follow the connections outward. Keep an eye on whose account you are reading.

Choose an available device voice below, or read the transcript. A recorded performance will appear here when available.

Field record

The old city never truly died — it mutated. Six arcology zones knit together across the original LA basin, tiered by economic clearance. Upper zone residents have ocean views and climate control. Lower zones have labor contracts and filtered air.

The informal economy is enormous and largely tolerated. The NAF understands that a city this size needs pressure release valves. The Ring Road, the black markets, the Heist Club circuit — all exist because the NAF calculates that visible enforcement costs more than the activity it would suppress.

Districts and sites

Alto Cito
place · district
District on the operator's map, inside the Ring Road. Established in the wider Raid Racers canon; undescribed in the records compiled so far.
Barricadia District
place · district · as of 2060
Lost Angeles lower district. Dense residential stacks, contested airspace, informal economy. The district where operators who need to disappear go to disappear.
Center Point
place · district
District of Lost Angeles.
Glass Forest
place · district
NAF corporate arcology core: financial center, luxury towers, total surveillance. Team Los Creeps' home turf. What old corporate money looks like next to Barricadia's outlaw glamour.
Monitor Central
place · district
Not a place Warranty Void can break into. A schedule, a processing node, a procurement office, a sensor grid, eleven notices, an assessor in a van, a classification returned to a clinic, and a response that arrives differently depending on
The Boost
place · district
District of Lost Angeles.
The High Top
place · district
Nobody in the High Top raises their voice. That's the threat model. Patronage, quiet decisions, expensive protection; pleasant people can ruin a life without raising a voice. Access by invitation, hosts, funds, private security.
The Low Coast
place · district
Floods twice a day because a covenant nobody can enforce says somebody else should have maintained the wall. The seawall failed in stages. Two hundred households live in buildings dry for roughly four hours at a time.
The Musk Tunnels
place · district
The only cross-city route without a surface checkpoint. Everyone knows. The grid knows too. Firmware, settling structure, sealed sections; a permanent map is the one thing that can't be bought.
The Raze
place · district
The 2041 quake flattened the east. The city cleared what it could use and named what remained the Raze: three square kilometers of industrial ruin, crater ground, unlicensed salvage, remediated soil, new growth, old contamination, and official absence maintained because
The Ring Road
place · district · as of 2060
Illegal circuit racing network through Lost Angeles infrastructure corridors. Runs on Burnout culture. The NAF knows it exists. They also know what happens if they shut it down.

Who is here

People

Abi Okonkwo-Cruz
person · character
Forensic accountant, 26; the audit menace. 'I'm not accusing anyone. I'm reconciling.'
Blessing Okonkwo
person · character
Runs the stall and the family, 52, in that order on paper and the reverse in fact. Knows what 'security logistics' means; permits the lie and audits it privately. Recognized Grigor in one meal: another person who loves by portion.
Bonzer Kabesh
person · character
Jaguario recruiter.
Burn Actual
person · character · as of 2060
Raid race driver chasing the Burn State segment record on the Lost Angeles circuit. Year 2 roll was driver error, not chassis failure. Post-race review read it as chassis.
Cas (Caseline-9)
person · character · as of 2066
Fennec lineage, 26, orphanware, the planner. Her legal name is a batch designation. The market bred foxes to listen, and then sold the recordings. Caseline folded in 2053; she bought herself out at nineteen, in 2059.
Cassian Vire
person · character
Old corporate money with a public persona most at home in Glass Forest. What he is building is the novella's second secret.
Commander Ilya Vroza
person · character
Kavast pack commander, 47, frost-gray, twenty-nine years in command. Loves his wolves exactly the way the recruitment ad loves them, sincerely, and the system spends what he loves.
Corin Kestrel
person · character
Runs Kestrel Motorworks and performs a confidence he doesn't have; the buried fraud is his.
Cormorán
person · character
Fifty-one years old, sixty-two kilos, a grey fleece with a co-op logo on it, and the entire air network of the Southern Cartel Alliance.
Danka Ivel
person · character · as of 2066
Wolf lineage, 24, ex-Kavast, the driver. Kavast holds packs together with love; pack-bond conditioning means deserting means leaving your litter. Danka is the one who did, because she watched command spend that love like ammunition.
Dr. Silk
person · character
Stabilises the orphanware nobody else will touch, at fair rates, with genuine warmth, and takes payment in tissue samples with a collector's specific joy. Both of those things are true at once and neither cancels the other.
Dray
person · poi
OPERATIVE · Lost Angeles. Former NAF Pack Commander, medically discharged, now runs a 40,000-person mutual-aid network the NAF calls an insurgency.
Frequency
person · character
A voice through a rented speaker, a courier kid reciting one sentence from memory, a dead drop that answers a question you asked at a different dead drop. Nobody has met Frequency in a form that settles anything.
Grigor Tam
person · character · as of 2066
Bear lineage, 34, Eastern Compact, the anchor. Callsign earned in Compact service, meaning endurance; the kids think it's a hospital joke. His first splice, Longhaul, died waiting for an extraction that was never coming.
Marco Cruz
person · character
The quiet in the family's loud, 55; the press downstairs; where Ozzy's design talent visibly comes from, never said aloud. Forty words a day.
Marisol Vega (Barricadia)
person · character
Last treasurer of the Barricadia Reclaim Co-op, 61; the crew's landlord; rent never raised, stays for lunch monthly; the reason Jaguario has never leaned on the address, unexplained. Holds the paper on the garage.
Marit Sey
person · character · as of 2066
Snow-leopard lineage, 33, ex-IRBIS, the builder. Intermittent: she does not live at the Wash and keeps no fixed address, because a person who is cheap to repossess stays cheap by being expensive to find. She arrives, she builds, she goes.
Meera Devarajan
person · character
Drives to make the people who hurt her feel it. Reads a room the way she reads a corner under braking.
Mo Money Jaguario
person · character
Moved the Tooth and Gear uphill a decade ago; his High Top office is the residue.
Ozzy Okonkwo-Cruz
person · character · as of 2066
Baseline human, 19, Barricadia, the mouth. No augments; in this crew, the loudest statement anyone's making. A mother above a print shop who thinks he does logistics for a security firm.
Petrina
person · character
Controls access to the Raze alongside the co-op and the moving reclamation schedule.
Razborki
person · character
Jockey and DJ; the flicker-paint murals on the Tooth and Gear's walls and the booth.
Rea Okonkwo-Cruz
person · character
Transit tech, 22, Monitor-adjacent, night shifts on the Musk Tunnel sensor lines. 'We patched the east grid this week. Whoever was ghosting through it, they can't anymore. Pass the rice?'
Soren Kestrel
person · character
Jockey. Fights his own decline the same way he fights a car built for a different kind of driver. Notices timing, tolerances, sound, the half-second where a decision has to be made.
Theo Ashe
person · character · as of 2066
Raven lineage, 22, ex-Protectorate, they/them, the documenter. Protectorate flights are networked sensory arrays; Theo spent their whole life inside Vantage Nine, a nine-operator flight running as one sensorium, and never had a private thought until defecting at twenty.

Organizations

Barricadia Reclaim Co-op
organization · guild
Ran Reclaim Sub 3 for nineteen years; the grease-pencil output wall is still legible and ends mid-line. A failed filter batch collapsed the co-op and the building went dark for six years.
Grava Pack
organization · unit
Six Kavast wolves on liaison and convoy-security rotation in the NAF Western Corridor under treaty, commanded by Vroza. The other party in the crew's forty-million-view founding legend, the Forklift Clip.
Kestrel Motorworks
organization · corporation
An old-money garage gone thin, closer in spirit to Center Point's professional respectability than to Barricadia's outlaw glamour. Not one of the sport's dynasties: a name that used to mean something and is fighting to mean something again.
Monitor Central
organization · network
NAF security & AI authority. Runs Crackerjack sanctioning, Dark Cell containment, and city-wide surveillance AI.
Raid Race
organization · network
The sport: crews run raids across the city and sprint packages to the Low Coast launch points. Jockeys, jumpers, spotters, mechanics, stealers. The Ring Road Enduro, the Tunnel Run, the Extraction Sprint. Eight teams deal at the Tooth and Gear.
Salt Wake
organization · network
The Low Coast's maintenance crews and households on the water timetable; the real local power behind the seawall.
Team Jaguario
organization · crew
The team that holds Barricadia in the streets while the NAF holds it on paper. Mo Money's High Top office is the residue of the club's move uphill; Bonzer Kabesh recruits.
Team Null
organization · crew
A Raid Race team fielding the Null Unit.
Vire Dynamics
organization · corporation
Cassian Vire's company. Old corporate money, most at home in Glass Forest.
Warranty Void
organization · crew
A five-operator splice in Barricadia: mixed lineages, no flag, visible affection, results. Takes contracts, posts its own evidence on the channel, feeds a block, embarrasses institutions, and keeps coming home to the Wash.
