The Ring Road

Illegal circuit racing network through Lost Angeles infrastructure corridors. Runs on Burnout culture. The NAF knows it exists. They also know what happens if they shut it down.

Ring Road. Forty-one kilometres of elevated highway circling the city at twelve metres: a freight lane, a racing circuit, a broadcast stage, and a moving argument about ownership. NAF signage calls it the Orbital Highway. Cameras face inward. The surface sits below the NAF's own civilian safety standard, because the road earns more as freight infrastructure than it would cost to make safe. What I can confirm: drone overflight windows at fixed intervals, VTOL points every fourth kilometre, and a relay somewhere on the ring that broadcasts after two. Who holds the title is a question the record answers differently depending on who is asking.

Field record

The Ring Road is not a fixed location — it's a rotating circuit through Lost Angeles's infrastructure corridors, elevated transit shells, and reclaimed highway segments. Declared location changes 48 hours before each event.

The culture around it — Burnout — has become the dominant youth expression in the lower arcology zones. The NAF has calculated repeatedly that suppressing it would cost more in civil unrest than the minor property damage it generates. The calculation gets reviewed after every fatality.
