The Black Site format separates the job from the person who does it for a reason. WICK ran the panels, DAME ran the exit, and three operators kept the garrison occupied long enough for those to be different jobs. That's the scenario working as designed, with real dice.

TABLEKavast Regional Water Authority, decommissioned biofilter station. Pump hall at center (objective). Concrete trench walls, processing tanks, elevated filter walkways, drainage channels.
OBJECTIVEAttacker: reach pump room, two OPINT Interact checks (Good = 2+, Ordinary = 4+), extract off any edge. Defender: prevent extraction or stall to T8.
WIN CONDITIONAttacker: +1 per successful Interact, +3 extraction, +1 per enemy OoA. Defender: +3 if extraction prevented, +1 per attacker OoA.
TURN CAP8 rounds // extraction triggers on T6 // game ends early
The Fissure Collective went into the Kavast Water Authority the way splice teams go into everything: spread across approach angles, no single exposed axis, the most capable asset placed first. CERN had been in the northeast filter beds since the night before. Two rounds of Ghost movement through the concrete drainage channels, passive detection rolls that didn't land, and she was at the east entrance of the pump hall with the objective one inch away.
Then she tried to run the Interact.
OPINT Ordinary is 4+. CERN is not WICK. The die came up 3. Ghost breaks the moment an operator touches a scenario objective, success or no. STRAND was three inches away with a clean line, and he put a natural 6 into CERN before the panel had finished rejecting her. One Mortal Wound. The operator who was supposed to open the door was standing in the open with one action and a bleeding out timer.
PLINTH came through the south approach drawing contact. BAUER put a shot through her in the T2 close-approach, but PLINTH's Take Cover reaction shifted her behind heavy cover and the round scattered wide. FENDT held the west bay of the pump hall in 120kg of Heavy Plate and didn't move, because he didn't need to. His MOBI is 4". The pump hall is 6" across. He was already where the problem was going to come to him.
WICK RAN TWO INTERACT CHECKS UNDER CONCENTRATED FIRE. BAUER'S ANSWER WAS A NATURAL SIX AT RUNNING RANGE.
WICK entered behind PLINTH and went straight to the panel. OPINT Good means 2+, and the first check came up a natural 6. The Climax fired on contact: Comms Down, one round of frequency jamming, LoS capped at 12", no reactions allowed. Under the blackout BAUER hit PLINTH in the south bay with no reaction available. FENDT cornered her in the doorway on the same turn and rolled a 6 on the armor check. PLINTH: first Mortal Wound, locked with a Breacher who had nothing else to do.
DAME triaged CERN's Mortal Wound in T4, converting it to a Flesh Wound before the blood pressure got critical. WICK ran the second check: OPINT Good, threshold 2+, roll 3. Both checks done. WICK moved south. BAUER chased six inches and rolled a 6 at running range, natural 6, Mortal Wound. STRAND came in from the east and hit WICK a second time. Two Mortal Wounds, one action per activation, six inches to a board edge.
DAME had options in T4. She didn't use any of them. She moved south and kept moving south. PLINTH and CERN absorbed the garrison attention through T5 while DAME put ground behind her. STRAND put a natural 6 into CERN in T5, breaking her MW track. FENDT ground PLINTH past her second Mortal Wound in the same activation. Contact Ceiling dropped: two of four operators OoA, GUTS check required on DAME's next activation.
DAME rolled GUTS Good, 2+. The die came up 2. Passed. Walked 6" south. Off the board. Data out. BAUER finished WICK before she reached the extraction edge. STRAND put one last shot through the pump room in T6 and dropped CERN. By then it didn't matter where the rounds landed.
// THE TAPE
T1DEF wins priority (5 vs 2). Both splices advance. CERN (Ghost) moves 7" through northeast filter beds, stealth intact. No contact. FENDT takes the west bay. BAUER holds the north entrance. STRAND covers east.
T2DEF wins priority (4 vs 2). CERN advances to pump hall east entrance, 1" from objective, still stealthed. PLINTH reaches the south approach. BAUER fires at PLINTH: PLINTH reacts Take Cover, heavy cover modifier applied, modified roll 3 vs 4+ threshold, miss. WICK calls target on STRAND: TACT 4+, roll 5, success, ATK Edge to 3. DEF passive detection vs CERN end-of-round: roll 3, fails.
T3Tied priority, retied ATK wins (3 vs 2). ATK first. CERN Interact: OPINT Ordinary (4+), roll 3, FAIL. Ghost breaks. STRAND fires immediately: SHOOT Good (2+) vs AR 1 = 3+, CQ+1, roll 6 NAT = MORTAL WOUND on CERN. PC: 0 to 1 (opposing models within 3" of objective). WICK moves to objective, first Interact: OPINT Good (2+), roll 6 NAT, SUCCESS. Climax fires: roll 1 = COMMS DOWN, one round, LoS cap 12", no reactions. Under blackout: BAUER hits PLINTH south bay (roll 5+1 CQ=6 vs 4+, hit, 1 FW). DAME moves adjacent to CERN. FENDT corners PLINTH: melee FENDT roll 5+1 knife=6 vs PLINTH roll 1+1=2, FENDT wins, armor check roll 6 NAT = MORTAL WOUND on PLINTH. LISS fires at CERN: SHOOT Bad vs AR 1 = 6+, roll 4, miss. ATK VP 1, DEF VP 0.
T4ATK wins priority (6 vs 1). Comms Down active, no reactions. DAME triages CERN: OPINT Good (2+), roll 4 = MW converts to FW. WICK second Interact: OPINT Good (2+), roll 3, SUCCESS. Both checks done. WICK moves 6" south. BAUER chases 6" and fires: SHOOT Good vs AR 1 (3+), roll 6 NAT = MORTAL WOUND on WICK. STRAND crosses east and fires CQ: roll 3+1=4 vs 3+, hit, WICK at 2 MW. CERN breaks lock vs STRAND: TACT Good (2+), roll 5, success, 3" clear. PLINTH break-free: TACT Ordinary (4+) with -1 MW penalty, roll 4-1=3 vs 4+, fail, 2 MW, still locked with FENDT. FENDT armor check on PLINTH: roll 2, armor holds. ATK VP 2, DEF VP 0.
T5DEF wins priority (3 vs 2). BAUER finishes WICK: SHOOT Good (3+) CQ+1, roll 4+1=5, hit, WICK third wound on MW track = OoA. PC: 1 to 2. DEF VP 1. DAME moves south (1-action priority penalty). LISS fires at CERN: SHOOT Bad vs AR 1 = 6+ CQ+1 = need 5+, roll 1 NAT, JAM. STRAND counter-fights CERN: roll 6+1 knife=7 NAT vs CERN roll 3+1=4, STRAND wins, armor check roll 4 vs AR 1, hit = MORTAL WOUND, CERN at 1 MW. CERN break-free attempt: TACT Good (2+) -1 MW penalty, roll 1 NAT, fail, CERN 2 MW. FENDT grinds PLINTH: roll 3+1=4 vs PLINTH roll 4-2+1=3, FENDT wins, armor check roll 6 vs AR 2, hit, PLINTH at 2 MW = OoA. Contact Ceiling triggers (2/4 OoA). DEF VP 2.
T6ATK wins priority (5 vs 3). DAME: Contact Ceiling GUTS Good (2+), roll 2, PASS. Moves 6" south: EXTRACTION COMPLETE. ATK VP +3 = 5 total. DEF 1 action (priority penalty). STRAND fires at CERN: SHOOT Good (3+) CQ+1, roll 2+1=3 vs 3+, hit, CERN on 2 MW = OoA. DEF VP 3. GAME ENDS T6. ATTACKER 5 / DEFENDER 3.
// WORKBENCH
// HOW IT ACTUALLY PLAYED
CERN's failed Interact (roll 3 vs 4+) was the hinge. OPINT Ordinary on a 4+ is close to a coin flip, and it failed at the moment it mattered most. If that roll lands, Ghost holds while CERN runs both checks from stealth, the Climax fires on CERN's timeline, and the DEF never gets the early nat-6 shot that opened the MW track in T3. Sending the Infiltrator to an Interact check above their threshold when a Tech Specialist with OPINT Good (2+) was right behind them was the ATK's biggest exposure.
WICK's nat-6 on the first check did two things: scored the VP and fired the Climax at the exact right moment. Comms Down in T3 stripped the DEF of reactions for a full round, which meant PLINTH's best defensive option against BAUER's south bay shot wasn't available. The Climax timing was luck. The split-role approach (PLINTH draws contact, WICK runs the panels, DAME stays mobile) was the framework that let luck pay off.
Heavy Plate Breacher in a confined pump hall is a wall. FENDT never needed more than 4" of movement, and the pump room geometry turned every exchange with PLINTH into a static grind. AR 3 with Good FIGHT means no ATK operator without a specific anti-armor tool could break that contact cleanly. The correct answer was to go around, which is what DAME did from T2 onward.
Rules question flagged for the backlog: Contact Ceiling failure allows moving toward your own deployment edge. In Black Site, the attacker's deployment edge is also their extraction edge. If DAME had failed the GUTS check in T6, the CC failure clause would have read as "you must move toward extraction." A failure becomes compliant with the objective. Worth a rules note clarifying whether a failed CC check still allows extraction progress or is intended to stop it.
- Try next time: put DAME at the objective first. OPINT Good (2+) on both Interacts, medic kit for field triage on the way in. CERN runs distraction and delay from Ghost; PLINTH and WICK draw contact. The role allocation here had WICK doing DAME's job at the cost of half her movement and no triage available.
// DISPOSITION
RESULTAttacker wins, 5 to 3. DAME extracts the routing data off the south edge, T6. Game ends two rounds early.
CASUALTIES // ATKWICK OoA (T5, 2 MWs under fire). PLINTH OoA (T5, 2 MWs, locked in pump hall doorway). CERN OoA (T6, 2 MWs, locked with STRAND). DAME: extracted healthy.
CASUALTIES // DEFSTRAND: 2 FW, walks. BAUER, FENDT, LISS: unwounded. Garrison functionally intact; pump room secure; data already gone.
MVPWICK (Tech Specialist). Completed both OPINT Interact checks under sustained fire. Natural 6 on the first check bought the Comms Down window. Absorbed two Mortal Wounds before going OoA and created the extraction opening DAME walked through.
THE DATA GOT OUT. THREE DIDN'T.
